Introduction to the Queensland Battery Booster Program
If you haven't heard what the Queensland Battery Booster program is yet, here's a rundown: The Queensland Government is giving back $3000 or $4000 to approved Queenslanders who are looking to add a solar battery to their existing system OR to those who want to add a new solar system to their home (there are more rebates for new systems too, ask us how). The catch is you must meet the eligibility criteria of earning under $67k or $180k per household annually, and only certain batteries and installers are approved to be apart of the rebate.

So why do you even need a Solar Battery?: Understanding the Benefits of Solar Battery Storage
Solar battery storage is revolutionising the way we harness and utilise renewable energy. With a solar battery system, excess energy generated by your solar panels during the day is stored for later use, even when the sun goes down. This allows you to maximise your self-consumption of solar energy, reducing your reliance on the grid and reducing your electricity bills (some of our clients even receive credits from the power company). Additionally, solar battery storage provides backup power during blackouts, ensuring that your essential appliances continue to operate seamlessly. By investing in solar battery storage, homeowners can take control of their energy usage, save money, and reduce their carbon footprint.
The Importance of the Queensland Battery Booster Program's Funding Extension
The recent extension of the Queensland Battery Booster Program's funding is a significant milestone for the state's transition towards clean energy. The additional $6 million in funding will enable more households to access the financial incentives offered by the program, making solar battery storage more affordable and accessible to a larger number of homeowners. This funding extension highlights the government's commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions and accelerating the adoption of renewable technologies. By encouraging the installation of solar battery systems, the Queensland Battery Booster Program not only benefits individual homeowners but also contributes to the overall reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the creation of a more resilient and sustainable energy grid.
Exploring the Cost of Solar Battery Storage in Australia
The long and short of it is that you will have an initial out-right cost for your solar battery and system, but you're going to recoup your investment over time through lower electricity bills (which are ridiculous at the moment).
The batteries that we install range from $7k to $28k (if you want the mammoth Tesla battery), before the rebate. With the cost of living pressure currently in Queensland this is still a significant cost even after you receive the $3000 or $4000 back.

How Solar Batteries Work and Keeping Your Costs Down
Solar batteries are the key to unlocking the full potential of solar energy. These batteries store the excess electricity generated by your solar panels during the day, allowing you to use it during periods of low or no solar production. The most common type of solar battery used in residential applications is the lithium-ion battery. When your solar panels generate electricity, it is converted into direct current (DC) power. This DC power is then stored in the solar battery, where it is stored as chemical energy. When you need electricity at night or when solar production is low, the stored chemical energy is converted back into usable electricity, providing you with a continuous and reliable power supply.
Solar batteries play a crucial role in the transition to renewable energy by addressing one of the main challenges of solar power – intermittent generation. By storing excess solar energy, batteries ensure a steady supply of electricity, even when the sun isn't shining. This helps to stabilise the grid and reduces the need for fossil fuel-based power plants. With solar battery storage becoming more affordable and accessible, we have the opportunity to transform our energy landscape and rely more on clean, renewable sources.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Solar Battery for Your Home
When selecting a solar battery for your home, several factors should be taken into consideration. The capacity of the battery is one of the most important factors to consider. By capacity we mean the kWh. The capacity determines how much electricity the battery can store and how long it can power your home during periods of low solar production. It's crucial to assess your household's energy needs and choose a battery with a capacity that can meet those requirements.
Another factor to consider is the warranty offered by the battery manufacturer. A solar battery is a long-term investment, and a solid warranty ensures that you are protected against any potential defects or issues that may arise. Look for a warranty that covers both the performance and the lifespan of the battery. Most of our warranties extend to 10 years.
Additionally, it's essential to consider the compatibility of the battery with your existing solar panel system. Ensure that the battery is compatible with your inverter and other components to maximise the efficiency of your overall system. Not sure what's compatible? That's what we're here for.

Comparing Different Solar Battery Options, including Tesla Solar Batteries
When it comes to solar battery options, there are several brands and models available on the market. One of the most well-known brands is Tesla, which offers its Powerwall 2 solar battery. The Tesla Powerwall 2 is a popular choice due to its sleek sexy design, high capacity, and advanced features. However, it's important to note that there are other reputable solar battery brands to consider as well that are a lot cheaper. Each brand offers different features, warranties, and price points, so it's crucial to compare your options and choose the battery that best suits your specific needs and budget.
The Future of Solar and Battery Storage in Queensland
The future of solar and battery storage in Queensland is promising. With the Queensland Battery Booster Program's continued funding, more homeowners will have the opportunity to embrace solar battery technology and contribute to a more sustainable energy future. As the cost of solar batteries continues to decrease and their efficiency improves, we can expect to see even greater adoption of these systems. The combination of solar panels and battery storage has the potential to transform Queensland's energy landscape, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and ensuring a cleaner and more reliable power supply for all residents.
